Essential items that will keep you organized and living your best life on the road.
As a touring performer, I've learned a lot about staying organized while traveling. Here are five of my must-have travel items:
1. A Spacious Bookbag
A good bookbag can go a long way when you're traveling. It can serve as a personal or carry-on bag for flights, an everyday bag when commuting from your hotel to work, or even a bag to take on a hike on the days you're feeling adventurous.
I'm in love with the Light Flight Travel Laptop Backpack found on Amazon. Its chic, spacious and has so many compartments to keep you and your stuff organized. I fit so much stuff in this backpack: laptop, iPad, water bottle, notebooks, clothes, and more. This backpack comes in six colors and a dreamy fabric that almost feels like satin. I'd suggest going with a darker color to keep stains away longer. I'm partial to the color purple.
Using Packing Cubes is a game changer. I'm new to the packing cubes gang, but I can attest that they are worth the hype. My suitcase has never looked better. I organize my cubes by clothing type. I pack all my shirts in one cube, pants in a different cube, dresses in another, etc.
Prior to using packing cubes, I never unpacked my suitcase. I just took things out as I needed and often kept my suitcase wide open in a corner of my hotel room the whole trip - yikes! Now that I use packing cubes, I unpack immediately by simply placing the cubes in drawers. I grab things out of the cubes as I need them, and repacking when I'm heading back home is a breeze.
You can get cubes from favorite stores like TJMaxx, Marshalls or Amazon. I use ExploreBliss Packing Cubes from Amazon because they are slightly cheaper and larger than the ones I've found elsewhere.
3. Jewelry Organizer
Are you like me and switch up your jewelry to match your outfits? If so, you need the Bagsmart Jewelry Organizer I found on Amazon.
It comes with six transparent pages with compartments to store earrings, bracelets, rings and six necklace holders. The best part is that its designed like a business portfolio so you can easily zip and store. It's small enough to fit in your bookbag or carry-on bag.
4. Luggage Locator Tags
The airline losing my luggage is one of my biggest fears when traveling. To help give me some peace, I bought the Atuvos Key Finder (works like Apple Air Tags but for a fraction of the price). Turn the device on, connect it to Find My iPhone, put it inside your luggage, and that's it. It will show you exactly where your luggage is and even notify you when your item is not near you.
5. Selfie Stick Tripod
I don't go anywhere without my travel tripod because you never know when you'll stumble upon the perfect photoshoot spot while traveling. As the saying goes "stay ready, so you don't have to get ready!"
I absolutely love the SelfieShow Selfie Stick Tripod. It's compact, durable, and compatible with most cell phones. If you don't like asking strangers to take your photos or feel like nobody knows your angles like you do, this tripod is for you. It is by far one of my favorite and most useful purchases.
Hope this short list of my travel favorites is helpful for you.
Cheers to happy, safe and organized travel ahead!!
